Sun, skin spots and changing moles

MedlinePlus, from the U.S. National Library of Medicine, notes that UV rays can damage skin in any season and at any temperature, and can lead to wrinkles, skin spots and skin cancer. It suggests checking your skin regularly for changes in moles, birthmarks and spots.

MedlinePlus also advises having a health care professional check any mole that looks unusual, grows larger, or changes in color or outline. At a family medicine visit, Dr. Shin can examine a spot that concerns you, and minor procedures such as skin biopsies are done in our office.

Care for Redondo Beach families

Along with physicals and preventive care and men’s health visits, our physician-directed skin and laser clinic offers:

Cosmetic treatment starts with an in-person evaluation, and results vary. A spot that looks worrying should be checked at a medical visit first.
